Thread gauge

A thread gauge is a tool for measuring the accuracy of internal thread dimensions.

Thread gauges include ring gauges and plug gauges. Ring gauges detect the size of external threads, while plug gauges detect the size of internal threads. Both ring gauges and plug gauges are composed of inspection measuring tools for detecting large and small sizes. Thread plug gauges are used for comprehensive inspection of internal threads, while thread ring gauges are used for comprehensive inspection of external threads.

The thread ring gauge simulates the solid tooth profile of the tested thread, checks whether the effective pitch diameter of the tested thread exceeds the pitch diameter of its solid tooth profile, and simultaneously checks whether the actual size of the base diameter exceeds its solid size.

Maintenance and upkeep of thread gauges:

After using the thread gauge, the attachments on the measuring part should be cleaned up in a timely manner and stored in the designated measuring tool box.

The measuring tools on the production site should be placed in the designated position of the process, handled gently to prevent damage to the measuring surface due to collision. It is strictly prohibited to forcefully screw measuring tools into threads as cutting tools to avoid early wear. Adjustable thread ring gauge is strictly prohibited from being adjusted by non measuring personnel, ensuring the accuracy of the measuring tool. If the environmental regulations are not used for a long time, they should be handed over to the metrology management department for proper storage.

Precautions for thread gauges:

When using measuring tools, the plug gauge should be calibrated and measured once every working day.

After adjusting the adjustable thread ring gauge, the measuring part may become out of roundness. This phenomenon is re measured and identified by the measuring personnel after thread grinding and processing. Only after all dimensions are qualified can they be put into use.
