2113 advantages of lost foam casting:

1. The sand mold is dry quartz sand 1653 without adhesive 5261 agent, moisture, or any 4102 additives; 2. The foam plastic model can be formed in blocks for bonding and combination. The shape of the model (i.e. the shape of the casting) is basically unrestricted; 3. A foam plastic model that is consistent with the shape of the casting and has only a difference in size from the metal shrinkage is retained in the mold to form a "solid" mold, rather than a "cavity" mold (i.e., "empty" mold) of the traditional sand mold; 4. During pouring, the foam plastic model is constantly decomposed and gasified under the action of high temperature liquid metal, resulting in the replacement process of the metal model, which is not like the traditional "empty mold" casting, which is a filling process of liquid metal.

Vacuum casting is a process that uses ventilated 2113 molds. The melted metal of 5261 is fed into the mold by air pressure flow 4102, and then the air is evacuated to form a vacuum. This casting method is mainly used for small parts or jewelry with intricate details. Compared with traditional clay sand production castings, castings produced with thermosetting resin sand have the characteristics of small surface roughness, good size, and good quality. The hardened resin sand mold has good stiffness and high dimensional accuracy, and is not easily deformed. Therefore, when selecting process parameters, a smaller machining allowance can be selected to reduce the consumption of metal solution and machining costs, thereby improving the dimensional accuracy of castings. In China, 60-70% of all castings are produced using sand molds, and about 70% of them are produced using clay sand molds. The main reason is that sand casting has lower costs, simpler production processes, and shorter production cycles compared to other casting methods. So castings such as engine cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, crankshafts, etc. for cars are produced using clay green sand technology. When the wet mold cannot meet the requirements, consider using clay sand surface dry sand mold, dry sand mold or other sand molds. The weight of castings cast with clay green sand can range from a few kilograms to tens of kilograms, while castings produced with clay dry molds can weigh up to tens of tons. For medium and large castings, cast iron parts can be produced using resin self hardening sand molds, and cast steel parts can be produced using water glass sand molds, which can obtain castings with accurate dimensions and smooth surfaces. However, the precision, surface smoothness, material density, metallographic structure, mechanical properties, and other aspects of castings produced by sand casting are often poor due to high costs. Therefore, when these performance requirements of castings are high, other casting methods should be used, such as investment casting (deparaffinization) casting, die casting, etc
