For clean molding sand, the permeability depends on the size of the sand particles, generally between 30-70 mesh. Because circular sand has good fluidity and compactness, it has high permeability, so circular sand is generally used.

3. The moisture content of cast iron platform molding sand: The moisture in the molding sand is the root cause of many casting defects in cast iron platforms. Using dry sand without moisture also means reducing the large amount of heat required for gas moisture, which is beneficial for the gasification conditions and casting quality of cast iron platform models. The ideal molding sand is free of moisture, but due to atmospheric humidity and condensation, trace amounts of moisture are inevitable. Therefore, the moisture content of cast iron flat molding sand should be less than 1%.

4. The mud content of cast iron platform molding sand: Due to the thermal effect of high-temperature metal liquid, some components in the molding sand vaporize and produce a large amount of gas, while forming a high pressure. These gases escape through the molding sand and line the cast iron platform mold. Therefore, the mud content of the molding sand should be less than 1% -3%, and it can generally be washed with water.

5. Cast iron platform sand temperature: The thermal stability of cast iron platform type is poor. If the temperature of the molding sand is too high, it will soften the rivet welding platform model and increase the possible deformation of the model. To prevent the model from being deformed by heat, the temperature of the molding sand is strictly controlled, generally not exceeding 60 ℃.
